Name of Artist: Ansel AdamsDates of Artist’s Life: Born on February 20th, 1902 and died on April 22nd, 1984.
Personal Background: Ansel Adams and his family came to California from New England, having migrated from Ireland in the early 1700s. Ansel Adams was born and raised in sunny California. As a child Ansel did not have many friends, he was kicked out of several schools for bad behavior. His parents decided it would be best if Ansel was taught by private tutors. In his later life Ansel married his beautiful wife Virginia Rose Best. He was a great American environmentalist photographer.
Style: This artist's work posses the visual characteristics of enhancing aesthetic qualities of the wilderness. He truly captures the beauty of mother earth. Most or all of his photographs are in black and white. This enhances the lines and edges of the objects which makes the photo even more rich. When Ansel Adams took pictures he used the style of realism photography.
Philosophy: I think Ansel Adams main idea behind his images was not to be technical but to expressive. His photos were very personal because they showed how his journey as a photographer and a person. He traveled all around the world to capture nature’s beauty. He wanted to share that with the rest of the world and take you through his journey. Influences: Ansel Adams influenced my work by making me appreciate what I already and what the earth has given me. I edited my photos to be in black and white to accentuate every line and edge in my photos. I wanted to take the viewer on a journey of my experiences, just as Ansel Adams did. Rather than looking at all the artificial beauty in the world now, I embraced what was here since the beginning of time. I was very inspired by Ansel’s work because he knew what was truly beautiful.
Jackson Lake and Teton Range
Colorado
The biggest difference between angel's photo and mine is the angel. He takes is photo more leveled with the water. I take mine from higher above almost a bird's eye view. In both of our photographs we have the water then the mountains the background. They also capture the beauty of mountains and mother earth.
Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico
Crescent Moon
Both of our photos are of the moon. The biggest difference is the shape of the moon. Ansel took his picture when it was a full moon. While I took my picture when it was a crescent moon. A thing they both have in common is they photos were both taken at night.
Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada from Long Pine
Twin Peaks
Ansel and I took two wonderful pictures of two different mountains but still just as beautiful. Ansel's photo has more detail, you can see every edge and line in the mountain. My photo much darker and mysterious than Ansel's photo. Ansel's photo is edited much better and captures the true beauty of nature.
Personal Artist Statement: My photos are in the right column. They were taken during my trip to Colorado this trimester. You could see the mountains through my grandmothers kitchen window. One day we took a road trip through the mountains. They were absolutely stunning. The looked so strong and had so much character to them. I really enjoyed this trip.
